The Nigerian Friendship Association

The Nigerian Friendship Association (NigFA) is a non-profit organization based in Silver Spring, MD, dedicated to advancing charitable and educational initiatives throughout the Greater Washington region and Nigeria. Since its founding in 1986, NigFA has established itself as a professional organization committed to fostering cooperation among community members and addressing the educational and social needs of underprivileged populations. The organization operates through multiple charitable programs and community engagement initiatives designed to create meaningful impact. NigFA's primary focus includes the Friendship Association Education Assistance Program (FAEA), a 501(c)(3) incorporated entity established in 2005 that provides financial support to qualified Nigerian students pursuing undergraduate degrees at Nigerian universities, as well as direct assistance to schools in Nigeria and throughout the Washington DC-Baltimore metropolitan area. The organization also conducts annual community events including a premier Family Day Picnic, professional networking golf outings, and gala celebrations that bring together diverse community members. With a membership base of successful professionals, business leaders, and community advocates, NigFA leverages collective expertise and resources to support economic, social, and professional advancement. The organization offers flexible membership options, including Full Membership and At-Large Membership for those relocating internationally, ensuring sustained participation across geographic boundaries.
