Established in 2011, AKISAN Houston provides comprehensive community services focused on cultural preservation, economic development, and social progress for Akwa Ibom indigenes and Nigerian citizens throughout the region.

The organization specializes in fostering unity and cultural awareness through strategically organized community events and initiatives. AKISAN Houston hosts annual cultural celebrations, including picnics at prominent venues like George Bush Park, where members experience traditional foods, music, and dance while strengthening community bonds. The association actively engages in volunteer work, demonstrating commitment to broader social responsibility through partnerships with organizations like the Houston Food Bank, where members participate in food distribution efforts to support those in need.
