The Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN) Dallas Metro Chapter is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to serving the Dallas-Fort Worth community since its founding on January 20, 2010. Operating in Dallas, TX, AKISAN provides comprehensive support and programming designed to foster unity, progress, peace, and happiness among Akwa Ibom indigenes and their families throughout the region.
The organization leverages seven key pillars—Education, Religion, Science, Economics, Culture, and Charity—to deliver meaningful programs and initiatives. AKISAN offers educational workshops, cultural events, legal assistance on U.S. immigration matters, and economic development opportunities for members. The association maintains an Emergency Fund to support members facing serious illness, injury, financial distress, or immigration challenges, demonstrating its commitment to practical member support.
AKISAN Dallas Metro Chapter hosts diverse community events including monthly meetings held on the third Sunday of each month, 4th of July picnics, gala fundraisers, and Christmas celebrations that unite members and foster lasting connections. The organization has successfully completed seven major development projects, including hospital renovations in Nigeria, school supply initiatives, and partnerships with local Dallas charities to increase community literacy.
Membership is inclusive and accessible, welcoming all Akwa Ibom State indigenes, their spouses, naturalized Nigerian citizens, and individuals of any background committed to supporting Akwa Ibom development. The association operates transparently with elected leadership serving two-year terms, monthly governance meetings, and democratic voting processes.
